Why write a book?

Well, for one...you have a great story! Ever had something running around your brain that just had to be put down on paper? If the answer is Yes, then you probably have the beginnings of a great read. But, why write a story/e-novel/book/whatever? To get rich? Probably not. Most people who write and publish themselves will never get rich. There are sooo many people who have had the same idea. The market is flooded with them! So, another reason to write... To get famous. Well, again...probably not. It's not the best motivator for scribing a tome! There are a million reasons why people write, but for me the only reason is for the love of the story. I feel sincere regard for my characters - quite simply, they are my babies and I love them. Usually I have been thinking about the story for a year or more before I even put the proverbial pen to paper. It rattles around in my head for a long time before the smallest basis comes to life. Don't worry a bout the how's and why's or even the little things like construction or format. First and foremost - just write the thing!!! The rest will fall into place at a later date once you have it down. For me, it is a process of falling in love. With love you can bring it to life. A completed book is like a new life...

Merry Christmas to all. I hope everyone has enjoyed the holiday season and Santa has been generous. My beloved book is in edit as we speak, and i can say I am very, very excited! Writing a book, for me, is akin to creating a new life. When it is finished, it feels as satisfying as looking at your new child in your arms. Having said that, I'm already thinking of a new baby project....so stay tuned!!

What a week.
I've been bashing at the keyboard 'till my fingers hurt!

Pet peeve of the week....people who try to get you to pay for / buy things you don't want. Argh.
I want to say a firm "bugger off" but that's hardly polite now is it?!

I have itchy fingers today. Been banging out a storm on the pooter.
But, la lady cat, my little La Chat is fuzzing up my lap! Oh well, she's 20 years old, so no complaints.

It begins

The ship hung stationary in the watching stars and planets of the galaxy, paused on the verge of its first test flight. Its sheer size was testament to its readiness, eager as a fledgling ready to fly the nest for the first time. It was a sleek design, smooth and aerodynamic in shape, tiny portals illuminating its existence as well as a deck wide presence of light that announced its coming of age to all that were witness in the depths of space.
